We have created a space and place to post references and websites for you. We hope that you are excited and inspired to "Look Around" and visit the links, check out the samples and/or read professional articles to continue your teaching/learning journey. We invite you to use these resources (just click on Resources link on the left navigation bar) as you continue to explore your own thinking and reflecting from our introductory workshop, "Differentiation in a Culturally Responsive Learning Environment", held November 2008 in Vancouver, B.C.
This space is a creative commons area that you may use as a resource but wikispaces provides a space for an online community where all members can be contributors. We will be able to communicate and build these resources as a collaborative team and it won't matter that we are residing in different provinces in Canada. If you are interested in joining this space, please do - Just click on the "Join this Space" link on the navigation bar to the left. We will be notified through wikispaces and we will then give you access to edit and add to this site. We are building knowledge together!
Our next workshops are scheduled for January (presented by Julie with an in-depth focus on differentiation) and April (presented by Sarah with an in-depth focus on culturally responsive teaching) but it is important to continue to build the interconnectedness of both of these philosophies.
This online space will inform our future planning so we can better meet your needs. Now that we have a better sense of 'who our learners are' and have had a glimpse of the multiple contexts in which you are teaching, we will plan to build interactive follow-up workshops for you to engage in professional dialogue and experience hands-on learning in the next leg of our journey together. We look forward to providing you practical applications that you can take back to your classrooms, schools, school districts.
